Hi Folks I am about to order a new speedometer cable from FS for around $200. It's the one that runs from the the cruise control regulator to the speedometer head. I know there are various other options from specialist companies, but since the saving would only be around 50 or so bucks, I would rather go with the OEM part. However, before I order the part, I just wanted to check if there are any ways of repairing my existing cable. The problem is the outer cable is frayed at the speedometer head and catches on the inner cable making a clicking noise. I know I can buy new outer cable for $1 per foot, so I was wondering if there is any way of removing the old cable ends from the existing cable and fastening them to the new outer cable. Has anyone done this? Geoff |
