Hi Guys, yes, I have been busy today :-). I've located what I think is an original 1979 section of brake hose (the cross-hatch is the give away apparently). So it is way overdue for replacement. This hose runs from the brake fluid reservoir to the accumulator valve, is about a foot in length and pushes onto a flared section of brake pipe at each end. It is secured to the brake pipes by hose clips. The question is, is this a low pressure or high pressure hose? I have some new 1/4 inch ID EPDM to use if it is indeed low pressure, but as you see in the picture the new stuff is a lot less sturdy than the old stuff which worries me.
Thanks Paul |

Paul, The feed hoses from the reservoir to the pumps and the return hoses from the ACV to the reservoir are "virtually no pressure" hoses. For a full list of hoses with their part numbers and characteristics see the chart in the RR & Bentley Parts, Repair, Restoration & Other Resources Compilation. Brian |

Paul. All high pressure hoses have unions. Screw fittings. Low pressure hoses have simple hoses clips like a worm drive jubilee clip. The ACV has 3 connections. Feed from pump high pressure biggest pipe. Feed from ACV to system high pressure Stainless braided hose ACV relief valve return to reservoir. Low pressure DOT brake fluid compatible hose secured with hose clips. 1/4" bore The feed to the pumps is also low pressure and again hose clips. 3/8" bore. 4 low pressure flexible hoses in all. only use SAE DOT hose. Available from pipe specialists and motor factors. Note these pipes last surprising well despite being cooked by the engine. Only maintenance is check for chaffing. Use stainless hose clips. |

Thanks Brian and Bob for the replies. That chart is very useful and saves money. I got the specs for the 4 low pressure flexible hoses from there (2x 1/4" and 2 x 3/8" all EPDM) before I bought them a couple of weeks ago. It was just the fact that the hose I was replacing looked so much more substantial than the new one that worried me. Very useful information Bob. Thanks Paul |
