I have not been successful in finding in either the Workshop Manual or Spare Parts Lists/s any reference to the replacement of broken door springs. I have two on the drivers door. I would be greatly appreciative of any advice or information in this regard. Thanks in anticipation Peter |

Which springs are you looking for? Where do they fit? |

Jan, thank you for your response to my posts. My apologies for the lack of clarity regarding the springs. I am referring to the two springs located by the top door hinge between the front of the door and fame on each door opening. They apply mechanical tension aiding in holding doors ajar once opened. Athough these springs tend to weaken over time on all cars I've never yet found them quoted in mainstream parts manuals. Your only recourse may be to find a car being broken or even take the old ones off and have them retempered. Any spring manufacturer should be able to do that for a nominal sum. A though flits across what I like to call 'my mind': Are the detent slots worn such that the active end of the springs cannot hold in them? If so a little gentle reprofiling with a hand file might let them work for a few more decades. |

Thanks for that Jan. I followed your thought flit and double checked. The spring hooks on the door casing side are in fact both snapped off. I will remove them and get new ones made up. Cheers Peter |
