I have a 1956 Cloud - SYB 154. The fulcrum bracket needs to be replaced on one side (UR2742). I have a replacement fulcrum bracket, bearing blocks, and on closer inspection of the workshop manual and spares schedule, a sealing ring is required. The manual shows sealing ring part # UR 4000. However, there are also other sealing ring # shown, 4001 and 4002. Why are there different sealing ring dimensions? |

Thanks David. Installed and back in the car. The fulcrum bracket thread was badly worn. Unfortunately, not enough lubrication over the years. As with anything Rolls Royce, the manual and the reality are two different things. The space between the bearing block and the fulcrum bracket was closer than the thickness of seal UR 4000, therefore a thinner spacing seal was fitted. I think you mentioned you cut your own also. However, UR 4000 is the correct ID rubber seal for that fulcrum bracket (if nothing has shifted or changed over 65 odd years). The ID on seal UR 4003 was too small, possibly for a later model. |
