The radiator returns home - it required a $AU900 re-core. Will try and free that darn drain tap while it's out. I take it from the cap that this is a non-pressured system, is it a good idea to convert it?  | ||

No, not a good idea to convert it, and really not necessary. There is a pressure relief valve at the top of the tank, but they were drilled out because RR was having problems sealing the head gasket. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. The design of the heater core with its inverted plate design does not do well under pressure either. | ||

Thanks Jeff - one more thing I don't need to do vs. all the things on my to-do list :-) Will get some ATF onto that drain plug today.. Daniel | ||

Has to be a 50/50 mix of ATF and acetone. | ||

What to do. Remove the split pin from the lower end of the spindle, then the washer and spring. A kettle of hot water on the tap body will expand it and free the tapered plug. Solvent mixes never work for me. (Message approved by david_gore) |
