This is the "ride control "switch that sets the rear shock dampers to Hard or Normal Use the H position for driving on roads with lots of bends or when you have rear seat passengers that are heavy! Use N position for the rest of the time. |

Trevor, Thanks for answering our guest's question. Something I never knew about the Silver Cloud - now to find out how it worked. |

I actually prefer the H setting all the time. We have speed bumps in surrounding streets that are very aggressive, and the N setting provides insufficient impact and rebound damping to the rear end when navigating them. The N works fine on billiard table smooth roads though, absorbing minor bumps with aplomb. No doubt though none of this compares well to a Shadow and its sophisticated Citroen derived hydro-pneumatic arrangement. I seem to recall a Shadow / Goodwood Phantom owner saying that the Shadow (and later variants) rides better than his Phantom. No doubt there will be an array of opinions on that point. |

David This switch just controls a simple solenoid on the two rear dampers. This just pushes a "piston" into the oil passage in the damper to restrict the flow between both sides of the piston. |

In all the years never took the chance to move toggle in case something goes defective... Can one actually notice the ride intensity? Taking into consideration it’s functioning... |

Felipe Go for a drive on a bumpy road and move the switch to H and you should feel the difference. |

Trevor, Neat reliable mechanical solution - no electrical components to cause problems. A typical traditional R-R solution. |
