Hello...we know that SC series had several changes or upgrading over the years and does anyone know if the front horn guard on the SCIII were also standard factory equipment for the earlier SCII ? Regards |

Felipe, this is one to trawl through Service Bulletins in Bentley Heritage site, to see if introduced as running change. |

It only shows up in the SCIII parts manual, so I am assuming no, it didn't come on the SCII models…same as the boot spare tyre cover was first added to the SCIII series.. |

Hi Felipe, you may be right about the horn guard, I haven't looked that one up, but my D series SCII came with the spare wheel cover from the factory, and there was the E series Cloud after mine, but before the SCIII. I also have the doors over the front door cubby boxes, and upper and lower heating like a Cloud III. Not showing up in a parts manual is no guarantee that it did not exist on a car. The last of the E series SCII's have the same taillights of the SCIII as an example. |

If you have copy of build history (available from RREC in Uk) it might be recorded in that? Jaguar were very good at running change when one model was being replaced I.e. Series 2-3 XJ6 they just started fitting later parts, when parts box was empty! |

Hello...I realise this and my 1960 S2 doesn’t have most of the upgrades as your SCII series, except for the upper & lower heating option...will look if there are any brackets where the stone guard might have been...regarding build sheets, this was the first time, having received others in the past from RREC, that have no build sheets for this S2 and informed not all chassis had them which I find very odd, however didn’t insist any further… |

Felipe , every car had them. Maybe when factory gave them to RREC, some went missing. They would Not have built a car without as every action in build process is supposed to be signed off. That said loads missing signatures on my ‘73 Corniche fixed head! |

Gordon, Exactly the same as DRH14434 assembled late 1972/early 1973. Lots of blank signature boxes on the build sheets. |

Afraid that there seems to be some confusion here or misunderstanding. The RREC archive contains both R-R and Bentley records up to the end of Bentley R type / R-R Silver Dawn production. However the S type chassis records were generally split. The Bentley versions being handed to the BDC while the R-R records were handed to the RREC Hunt House operation. If you need chassis records for a S2, you would need to contact the BDC. Note, the above refers to chassis records, but ownership records of S2's and guarantee books etc are at the RREC Hunt House as are all development records. There is often a gap in chassis records when a record has gone astray, the chassis was written off and on at least one occasion when no guarantee was issued.

Are you referring to the small grilles above bumper, ie the air intake grille, Pt No UB4040?

The official R-R parts catalogue refers to this part a snow shield which is positioned in front of the two wind horns and bolted to the top end steering ram and bumper iron on the right hand side… I checked my S2 and found the wind horns are on the LH side, so unless there was a LH snow shield fabricated the RH shield wouldn’t fit…so end of story…and will not peruse the issue… Will have to be careful when parking over a kerb ! Interesting and never thought to contact the BDC...will firstly try the Swiss region since this was the first delivery... |

Happy 1st of May ! Furthermore on the issue of upgrades that earlier 2 series are missing, another query I have is about the fresh air ducting under the LH wing, also missing on mine, neither the pull knob under the dash to open or close vent to demonstrate one was once present…can't find any clips or brackets where assembly could have been removed…RH side has assembly for the air intake "snow pack" with ducting, however unsure where that leads to…maybe for the capping rail outlet duct side screens? |
