HELP - I have taken apart the damper unit and found a massive amount of sludge, and some of the internal components need replacing....i'm now searching high and low to find anyone who may have parts for the damper units. I've made contact with military guys who have B60 engines, any other suggestions would be appreciated

Hi Nathan,
Just which damper parts are you requiring? Is there something specific that Flying Spares or Introcar do not have?

The parts breakdown should be visible at the link below:

Unfortunately I need the RE6714 friction drum and the RE3942 Pressure plate assembly. As you can see the pressure plate assembly has broken from the outer ring

Introcar is your best choice, these assemblies are off the shelf but around 350. There really is no option.
You should also renew the compression springs

Nathan

Obtain the parts from Ristes of Nottingham England. Forget any discussion on price, these parts are expensive so don't waste your time searching elsewhere. Ristes make the damper parts and you may be able to obtain them from TJ Motors in Oz.

Buy the spring plate fully assembled and don't try to rivet the two parts together yourself.

Ensure the damper assembly is running exactly true on the crankshaft, if needed have the front end bearings of the crank skimmed, fit oversized bronze bushes and bore out on a lathe.

Do not accept any clearance more than 0.0005 inch and make sure the crank is not bowed more than 0.002 inch in the centre before work takes place. Keep the crankshaft end float clearance to the correct figures, if needed use oversized thrusts

There are no cheap R-R cars and there are no cheap R-R crank dampers!!

B60 engines do not have any car damper parts the front end of a B60 engine is entirely different to the car engine.
