We've just had all the suspension completely rebuilt on our Silver Cloud 1 and the specialist noticed that the steering box was held by only one bolt and advised that it needed rebushing.
He felt that there was wear in the box as you can feel it ever so slightly on full lock at roundabouts etc. We're unsure how to approach this problem and if it is meant to have a certain amount of play. We don't have a workshop manual and would appreciate it greatly if anyone could fax any information on the steering box (we don't have power steering)

Very greatful for all the trouble and effort you went to in faxing me your manual pages of your R Type steering box. Unfortuneatly, mine looks quite different to my untrained eye but will continue to investigate.
Again thanking you for your time and also thankyou to the RROC for this valuable internet site, which has made many of our labors easier and interesting.
