B27YA (May 54) needs a new heater core. From another thread I noted Richard Treacy mentioned a delco or bosch could fit. Tried to find, on the web, potential parts suppliers in Australia -no luck. Has anyone in the RROC(A) had success on a replacement core? Could you give me a name, phone #, or web link. Thanks, Bill

Hi Bill, I deliberately added some garbage to Lloyd's email address to frustrate spammers who harvest email addresses from forums such as this assuming you would realise what I had done - just replace [AT"@"] with the symbol @ and you will have no further problems getting in touch with him. Try emailing Lloyd at
mkvi "at" register.rroc.org.au but I'm not at all sure that he reads his email. |

Replacement circular heater cores are available from Holden Vintage and Classic UK. They are manufactured by a firm called Clayton to the original Smiths diamensions. According to to price list Holdens part no is 080.507 as usuall the inconvenient aspect is the cost at 129. pounds. I have never delt with either company but Holden do have a web sit. |

Thanks to all for the help. Yes, bits are getting expensive thest days. Think I will first explore making a stainless steel flex tubing double coil with a plate on about 1/3 of the exterior diameter. Will first make up a practice one of plastic tubing that is on hand to check air flow and potential temp output. Bill - B27YA

With slight modifications, the rear heater core from a Toyota FJ40 Landcruiser is a perfect fit
