Good Day. I'm a new member and require some help. Restoring a 1949 Bentley MK VI. Trying to start a rebuilt engine, but no spark for 1-2-3 cylinder. 4-5-6 look good. all new wiring, spark plugs and even changed rotor. All contacts in cap are clean, and ran a continuity check to all. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Check for wear on the rotor drive shaft and bush and clearances for each contact as the rotor rotates around inside the cap.

Chris
These distributors have two sets of points, one set fires 123, one set fires 456, ensure that the synchronisation of the points are correct.
This is almost certainly your issue.

Are you running the correct distributor cap, it should have the wires out the side, not coming out the top ?

Thanks David Gore, David Hughes and Jeff for the info. I'm using the correct distributor cap. I've ordered a new set of points, and will work on the synchronization. Thanks for the documentation. Will post results in about 2-3 weeks after parts arrive. Thanks again.

For anyone else reading this:
I use these points from BWD part #A61
They have a large contact area.

Not sure if they're available in Australia though.

In figure M14, do not insert the small cell (battery), just leave the ignition switched on for a moment, to check.
The lamp method is the best one to follow.

Thank you all. New points arrived, and now installed. All cylinders firing.

Looks like on one of the points the fibre heel was partly broken. Replacing the points solved the issue.
