Hi Everyone

Just a brief question regarding controls on late model Bentley.

I've only had access to my car the past 2 days and discovered to the right side of the steering on the dash is a small chrome button and when i push it - it makes a whooshing sound like air escaping was wondering what it is as I read through the owners manual and it is not identified on the standard instrument cluster illustration

Could some explain what it is please and its purpose?

It's the vacuum operated wind screen washer switch.
The fluid bottles were glass, so many are missing because of breakage.
I don't know how it works exactly, but the workings on top of the washer bottle had a high failure rate _ probably due to age more then anything else.
Mine was missing in my car when a bought it.
I've seen the vacuum diaphragm mechanism replaced with an electric motor.

Hi Jeff

Just an update - Mine still has the glass fluid bottle, however the suction stem attached to the lid has broken and also I'm not sure if there is another hose missing.

Above the lid and before the suction unit? there is a nozzle protruding and when I activate the vacuum button it squirts water out of that and nothing through the bonnet windscreen nozzles.
My lid is very corroded as well and because the stem is broken it wont function anyhow. My stem has broken at the thread at top away from the suction unit.

Also the black plastic hose which comes out of the chassis and connects to the top of the bottle suction unit is very fragile, twice I tried to put it on and twice it just broke into pieces so now that hose is too short from the chassis to the jar as well and I dont wanna touch further because Im not sure how to replace into the dash. Also I'm not confident at all to even start messing with the dash TBH

Its not a big deal of it doesnt work so I will leave it as is
