I'm sure someone here knows how thick the original felting is here and what density it was.
When I removed the floor to ease the installation of the transmission, the old felt was in pretty rough shape.
It was all goobered in old sealant and caulking.

This seems thin at 1/8 inch,

Jeff,

Have a look at "Woolies" online, under sound deadening felt. They are in Peterborough.
