Hi, I dismantled the SU's on a 52 R type and no damper springs on the piston Any reason for this and if not what colour code springs are fitted as standard I really am cursing the previous owner Pete |

There are no springs, that's how they are. |

Damper springs were fitted to R type carburettors, but only those with Alloy damper pistons, when the damper valve was modified slightly. R Type carburettors with bronze / brass damper pistons had no springs fitted.

Less mass with the aluminium damper pistons, hence the spring.
