I am restoring a 1954 Bentley R Type Sport Saloon that has been stored for 23 years and have a problem. The hoses to the windscreen washers on my 1954 Bentley R Type are very old, dry and cracked. The original vacuum pump has been replaced by an electric motor which works well, but there are leaks inside (behind? in front of? ) the dash and the water ends up on the floor inside the car. I would like to replace the hoses and also the “sprinklers” but can´t see or feel them , Does anyone know how to get to them? I would appreciate advice. Thanks. |

Jan, You will have either to take the dash board out to access these parts, or employ an 18" tall mechanic. Keep the electric pump, please!

Chris brilliant post mate. Now I know why I will be never buy one of these. I guess it's from the days when the help gladly washed your windscreen from the outside for peanuts. |

Thanks for the advice! It certainly seems difficult. Would it be a sacrilege to drill a hole in the near end of the bonnet to install a third sprinkler and leave the original two as they are? |

IT is your car, and your decision.
