My Silver Wraith WGC-66 has both a water thermostat and a calorstat that controls the radiator shutters. At least the early Silver Wraiths had the calorstat only like the pre-war cars. A friend has a WDC series car that he has owned for more than 30 years, and his has calorstat only. the water outlet on the cylinder head is different (no place for a thermostat), and the top radiator hose has a lenght of solid pipe with a short flex coupling on each end. Also, a WVH series car for sale in the US (look at http://www.cars-on-line.com/autocollfr.html) also appears to be without the water thermostat.

Every other Silver Wraith I've seen was equipped with a water thermostat like the Bentleys and Silver Dawns. One later FLW series car had the calorstat opening in the radiator tank blanked off, but this car also had AC with the condenser ahead of the radiator.

Does anyone know what is correct for which cars? When (if ever) did the water thermostat become standard equipment on the Silver Wraiths?
