Hello all, I dumped the oil in the wraith today and I pulled the filter down for inspection. It looks extremely clean and the oil was still looking pretty fresh also.
I noticed there is a small + (plus) stamped into the filter housing. I've never noticed it there...does the housing have a specific orientation?
Thank you,
Jack

Jack, for Wraith cars: the oil filter cover in the bottom of the sump does have a specific orientation. As one of the 6 holes is off-set by 5°, there is no possibility to mount it with wrong orientation. The top part of the cover (that goes inside the sump) is partially closed - that part faces to the rear of the car. It is not uncommon for these covers to show evidence of mechanics having marked these covers, but you should not pay attention to these marks.
I notice also the holes in the flange of your housing are well butchered by someone over-tightening the nuts before - as is usually the case. The inner diameter of your holes is smaller than original due to crushing of the Alu by the nuts. As a result removal and/or fitting the cover may become difficult due to interference between studs and holes. Before fitting the cover back, you can (partially) restore original holes by inserting (tapping) a conical drift through these holes. Of course, you will need to be careful here - if not things will go for the worse!
Please, always quote chassis number.
Good luck, Koen,

Thank you Koen,
That is wonderful..I suppose that's why I've never had a problem! I never noticed the offset holes.
Thank you for your insight and sharing your experience. WXA99 is my chassis number.
Thank you,
Jack

Jack, during production of all prewar RR/B cars, parts and/or sub-assemblies have been changed (updated). Check very first Wraith chassis and very last one... lots of differences! The only way to know for sure what people are talking about / questioning about is the chassis number!!
Enjoy WXA99, Koen,

Thank you Koen. I appreciate your support. I was able to reassemble, lube and run wxa99 this evening…nice peace of mind as I am headed to Asia on business for two weeks. I’m happy for your help “buttoning up” the car before my departure.
Jack

There should be one stud that is larger in diameter than the others.

Thank you Christopher. She is all back together and filled with fresh oil. When I return home after a couple weeks of business travel, the transmission and rear are next. I am still with no guidance from literature, so if there is anything outside specific information with this, I would appreciate any tips or guidance.
Thanks again to all,
Jack
