Jaw-dropping, and, in my opinion, jaw-droppingly good!

This is a car that, based on the opening paragraph, would otherwise have been destined to be a parts car. It's now got a second life, and what's likely to be a long one.

Fitting a P100D battery pack would significantly reduce "range anxiety" as the P75 pack installed would be the smallest available Tesla battery pack.

According to road test data here in Australia, a Tesla P100D has an usable range of 550kM [350 miles] for highway trips with all accessories [including air conditioning] turned full on during a hot day.

Well that is good, one Rolls that won't have to be trailered to events in years to come when the classic restrictions come into play!
quick comment on the excellent conversion, the rear end IMO is to high, would have been better to have used a Tesla sp100 air suspension.
Better still if one could be found is the MSP100 Cheetah.

IMO they are light years away, nothing in the future to be a success, why, to start with a hybrid is a waste of time and to develop it for all models produced proves the battery technology is non existent for a good range.
Nothing on super capacitators or induction charging and a lot more that would in my view be eye catching.
The motors need a little research as they may be a breakthrough from the norm all IMO

Dear Mark,
That article about Bentley going to Electric cars is being carried out in collaboration with my old University. A very good friend of mine Professor Gary Hawley is working closely with Bentley to make it happen.

This is a typical move by Bentley when new industrial opportunities arise:

1. The pioneers in the field [Tesla et al] show viable electric vehicles can be made at a price that results in customer demand for vehicle reaching a level that will support mass production.

2. Research into modifications and upgrades to improve performance and reliability continues and these are incorporated into the vehicles in production.

3. Manufacturers "sitting on the fence" watch and evaluate how the market changes and what shortcomings are present in the current range of vehicles.

4. Having identified the key possible areas where technology and manufacturing skills can improve performance and reduce manufacturing costs, the current outsiders begin research and testing of ideas to see if the current limitations and costs can be successfully overcome [e.g. finding alternative cheaper materials to replace expensive rare-earth materials in the drive system or more economical ways of reducing the quantity needed for existing components].

5. Critical path analysis to determine "bottlenecks" in the production cycle for investigation and development to improve quality, reduce manufacturing time and reduce overall costs of production.

I suggest all of these factors are involved in the current Bentley electric car project.

Omar, my point it will only happen without a fully all electric system to start development.
It is because of a Hybrid system as a starting point that is old hat and backward thinking that will cost the project dearly, best to have word with good friend to move with forward thinking to start with.
