A 1939 Porsche has just been passed in at auction at Pebble Beach for $17 million. Indeed jetsetters this is a truly ugly piece of work and the panel work appears to be of the quality expected from a 10 year old smashed on vodka and perhaps ether or even peyote mixed with skunk liver and snail guts. True the front of my Camargue can and has been pronounced ugly or even brutal but its nowhere near the wart scale of this Porsche. The Camargue would have been infinitely more comfortable but this auction is proof not only of the staggering amounts of loot changing hands at the top level of the classic car caper but also of the blatant poor taste of the world's super rich. Perhaps another Soviet revolution where the well heeled is liquidated without the expense of a trial is long overdue. |

Did it sell? It doesn't look like it (and the owner had a reserve above 17M): https://www.cnbc.com/2019/08/18/20-million-porsche-flops-in-auction-snafu.html Brian, who agrees this thing is, to put it delicately, unattractive |

Also, even the New York Times picked up on this one: https://www.nytimes.com/2019/08/19/automobiles/porsche-type-64-auction.html |

What a car to replace the Tatra and just look at it in the motorhouse, have to sell the 500K and a few more oldies to raise some loot. Have to try and deal direct. High end classics IMO are a falling market. Time to get in touch with Wallenius-Wilhelmsen ro ro shipping Co used the last with shipping a car from Nova Scotia. Bought this USA high spec gas free cruiser a must is to have air suspension! Will still keep the Leaf and C6s
