For those of you with weak stomachs have a look at the Espada for sale at Gullwing Motor Cars NY.

The car is a total basket case but that does not stop Peter Kumar from woodduck hunting.

Note the bonnet scoop! Its laughable and at the same time hideous. My bet is Peter paid under $5000 for this heap.

"Sorry Officer, I couldn't see the pedestrian/bike rider on the RHS before making contact!!"

I can hear the response right now but it is unprintable and combines small male appendages, neanderthal intelligence plus too much time and money .

I will have to agree that the car has been trashed......
All because they wanted to shoehorn an American V8 in that space.
Had they considered the transplant more carefully there would have been other options that would have worked much better.
The car can be rescued but it is more cost effective to buy a better example at more money than this heap of XXit

This is how one actually does that.

Not that I would do either.

Omar,

They probably didn't set out to put a Chevy in there. I bet it went like this. That spent Espada with blown head gasket showed up at auction, a guy buys it for $2000, then realizing the engine needs machine work too, decides to drop in a SBC, which he does in that position because it keeps the carb level and driveshaft angles correct and requires no cutting to the K member.

For the good,

The hood scoop isn't really to my design sensibilities, but it was considered and intentionally executed.

The car modification spectrum is pretty wide and I know I'd talk to the owner at a car show if I saw it.

Dear Ross,
The options of alternative drive trains are huge. That Small Block Chevy is a poor fit in its existing guise and that then necessitated the monstrosity on the hood/bonnet. That scoop has destroyed the car - not the replacement engine. If the fuelling had been changed there would not have been the need for such a big scoop.

I wonder if a German V8 would have been a better fit.
