Back from Beaulieu after a most interesting time with most things found there for a restoration. Sadly no Tatra parts. Thought I would look at the BRM V16 1.5 litre engine close up with its coolant being warmed up [takes hours] for the 3.00pm start up of engine. Engine has four separate Lucas magnetos for creating the spark for the 16 plugs. 3.00pm came and the car fired up what a sound but the engine did not fool me as it was mostly on 12 cylinders for what ever reason! |

It amazes me that this thing is still around! I have had a cassette tape for years which deals with the history of this engine and finishes off with the amazing exhaust sounds. There is quite a bit on You Tube about this engine. |

Maxwell, had a look on you tube and yes the engine was not on all 16 cylinders. The link takes you to the correct V16 sounding engine. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9IrBTtbCAB4 |

Yes Patrick,,there are several good clips. It's amazing they could get it to fire on all 16 cylinders! 1953, twin RR superchargers and four magnetos and around 740bhp....all out of 1500cc's!! Cutting edge stuff back then. Considering modern GP cars are about the same level. |
