Spring Installment:

The height of tree peony bloom season as well as lots of miniature iris, primula, and miscellaneous others. The early spring bulbs were just incredibly early this year after an oddly warm winter that had a frigidly cold end (and some real cold snaps after we usually have them). I never got out in time to photograph those.

For those who weren't around last year, or to see how things have changed since last year, I'll be posting some Albums from Google Photos to show what's growing and blooming as the season progresses.

I can't believe the supposedly annual dianthus made it through this last winter where we had low temperatures of 3°F/-16°C. This is the second year where what are supposed to be tender annuals are behaving as perennials.

Love the photos Brian.

You’re a very talented man with the best green thumb.

Thank you for your photos, I always look forward to them.

However my wife likes them as well, and this causes me work in the garden.
Sigh.

Well, 11 days have passed and we had some serious rain events that knocked off the tree peony blooms almost entirely!

However, there's always something else that's coming right behind. Here's what's blooming now, and we're early in both bearded iris and herbaceous peony bloom season. The roses are just beginning to come on.

Now that another 1.5 months have passed.

We've had an unusually rainy and cool spring and virtually instantly switched to the oppressive heat and humidity of summer. I figured I'd get out there and take some pics before the heat kills off a lot of the current blooms.

Brian,

Nice work there.

No matter how hot and humid, at least the orchids will be happy. We're having that weather around here and lots of stress on the crops.
