Gents,

Please find attached some images my daughter took while we were at the beach last weekend.

I submitted these for the Flying Spares Christmas Card competition, to give them a "summer" feel to Christmas instead of the usual snow & Winter shots.

Note Santa in the tree.

Patrick

Love the shorts and footwear mate. The kangaroo gives it a nice touch or is it a wallaby?. Yeah sweating over a hot BBQ on a 37c day is truly Australian. My wife says only in Aus you will find a man in thongs and shorts cooking salmonella, which is unfair cos I haven't poisoned anyone yet..

cheers Rob

I hear you Robert.

Sweaty Christmas days are the norm.
I don’t think I’ve poisened anyone yet either.

Love cooking the BBQ on Christmas Day, a few cold beers, whinging kids, ungrateful relatives.

Doesn’t get much better than this.

The foot ware Robert are Australian flag thongs/flip flops.
The Santa shorts were a must, pretty warm doing those pics.

Patrick,

You did not mention our Kiwi [New Zealand for Northern Hemisphere residents] neighbours have a unique name for the foot ware - Jandals [understood to be derived from abbreviating their original name "Japanese Sandals"].

Beware of tattooed Maoris knocking on your door........

Only get a chance to wear shorts on the weekend

Man, my legs look Lilly white huh lol

I should have used fake tan!

On a good note,
The weather here has been great on some days and horrendous thunder storms the next.
But good weather is predicted for the upcoming wedding of my niece this coming Saturday.

Hi Larry,

Unfortunately not.

She is walking to the ceremony from the hotel which is just across the road. It is at a popular look out in northern New South Wales.
I offered but, that's what they want to do.

The Shadow will stay home in the garage.
It is about a 4-5 hour drive from home to the event.

Patrick,

Pity I am not in Old Bar as Harry's Lookout is about 45 minutes away - beautiful spot with an interesting history.

Great place for an outdoor wedding this time of year.

Hope your niece has a perfect day for her wedding.

Good Morning David,

Every time I pass the Old Bar sign on the way to and from Port Macquarie I think of you.

The weather seems to be a bit hit and miss over the weekend, its predicting sunny tomorrow (having the day off & traveling up one day early) storms for Saturday (the wedding day), and sunny on Sunday.

Patrick,

Yes, the weather at the moment is very unpredictable - the weather bureau is having problems with providing reliable forecasts as the weather patterns are not playing by the rules.

Will keep everything crossed for you on Saturday.

Thanks David.

I can post a pic or two after the event if anyone is interested.

I will get it out there now, my Niece is gay and she is marrying (not legal yet in Oz, but may be by Saturday) her partner of many years.
So if you see 2 beautiful brides in the one photo we will all know what it's all about.

I am very proud of her for standing for what she believes in, and who she is. I do hope the weather hold out for them.

Thanks Mark,

They are.

Both very hard working, and great people.

My Niece is a real card, and you have to be on your game when she is around, otherwise you get flogged to death with her sharp wit, and humour.

She is a Police Sargent, and is terrific with people. She also does many marathons, triathlons and any fund raisers the Police put her up to.

She placed very well in the Hawaiian Ironman on the 2 occasions she has participated.

She is only 5ft (1.52m) tall and wears a size 4 shoe and weighs 121lb (55kg). But she will iron a person out flat to the floor any time, twice her size. This my 5tf 10" (1.8m) tall 220lb (100kg) son can verify LOL

Patrick,

my best wishes to the couple for every happiness and success now and in the future.

Keeping everything crossed for the weather - the surf at North Cronulla this morning was huge plus a king tide to boot so the east coast Xmas weather patterns are in play already.

If the happy couple would go to Dubai for their honeymoon, they can be driven around in a beautiful Bentley Azure with the top down.

Good luck to them and may they have a happy life together.

Omar,
Thank you so much, you are a true gentleman of the highest order.

They both have trouble getting some type of leave together right now, so a shorter honeymoon will happen, but they will be planning a trip next year.

I will pass your wonderful offer onto them when I see them at breakfast this morning.

Thanks again mate.

Patrick R,

VW busses as wedding cars, Henry Royce just rolled over in his grave. Silently.

I bet if you checked, those windowed busses held their value better then the Shadow!

Also, bliss to the happy couple, and good on them for the VWs.

Hi Ric,
Found this web site and noticed your name.
Owner from Tumbi Umbi.
Tried to register, but got mixed up somewhere.

The Spirit is with me, or rather in for the first check up at my mechanic's workshop.

Bazza,

Did you get a registration email sent to whatever email address you included in your registration.

You have to respond to the activation email for your registration to be effective.

Tumbi Umbi eh - I remember Tumbi Umbi as all bush with heaps of green tree snakes sleeping in the sun on the dirt road when Dad was teaching Mum to drive our new FJ Holden in 1954 after we moved to Wyong.

I always knew you were a man after my own heart Omar.

My brother had 2 combi’s, and some of my best memories as a kid was driving around, up high almost towering above all others on the road.

A great time.

A drive around Dubai in a combi would be heaven mate.

Excellent photo's. I was a VW air cooled guy in my youth. Weird kid as I was also into Rolls Royce and Porsche. Not because of the status symbol. It was the quality of how they are built. VW too me is an easy vehicle to keep in tip top shape. Ironic, here in North America. Those 23 window VW buses are worth more then many Rolls Royce's. Like my Spur and eventual Shadow.

I laugh about my fleet of VWs being worth as much as my Bentleys and in some cases worth double the money. For me its not about the money - it is the fact that I love these cars.

Great story on the magpies there Steven. We have had one at home for many years, and yes they bring all the family along for food & water.

They are as friendly and as loyal as a good dog.

They will even come in the door for a walk around and a chat.

Fantastic bird.

Will have look at the video later today when I am back at the Mid-north coast with a landline internet connection instead of wireless broadband with the limited data available here in Sydney.

The neighbours will be concerned with the footpath jungle that will have grown during the recent hot, wet and humid conditions. The lawn needs mowing every 4 to 5 days in Summer to keep it presentable.
