I dont watch many movies but i would like to see anything that now has historical content that was unintended at the time of film production. I would like to watch a movie where I can enjoy seeing the cars that just happened to be part of the movie at the time.

So - what is the best movie to watch???
I know we have been talking about the Itallian job in a different post - and yes that is a great film but I have seen that. Any others?

Hi Omar

There's a film called "Blow Up" from 1966. It is so long since I watched it I can't remember if it is any good, but it is centered around London and is full of cars which are obviously from that period. The main character, a photographer, drives a convertible Cloud III and there are plenty of shots of it.

There is a youtube video containing a few clips of the car, but these clips do not do justice to the full length film. The aspect ratio is wrong and the car looks too narrow. It does however give a flavor of the film:

Just a few suggestions:

Jacques Tati's Traffic (1971)
Cars everywhere throughout the movie.

Get Carter (1971)
Lots of scenes with cars, including a funeral with no fewer than seven RRs.

The Knowledge (1979)
Numerous scenes of London streets with traffic.

They're A Weird Mob (1966)
Numerous scenes of Sydney streets with traffic.

Omar, since you and some others here like American cars, Casino is good for 70's yank tanks, they look awesome.

Just be sure to get the remastered blue ray version, as the cars and the colours of Vegas look fantastic.

The Bank Job is a good one for cars Omar. Basically a late movie but set in 1970s. Fantastic looking Bentley in it but it has a lot of sex and violence in it so not a good one for the wife or kiddies. Well worth a look old boy. Vladimir

Omar,

there is another movie that is really good for spotting cars : Carnapping

http://www.imcdb.org/movie_78853-Car-Napping-Bestellt,-geklaut,-geliefert.html

Altough it was released in 1980 there are still a lot of '60 cars featuring. More so, it's full of real rarities, with the star of the movie being the B+B CW311.

As for Rolls Royces, a Shadow I plays a minor part in it and there are several Clouds and Shadows featuring in the background.

Benoit

If you can get it on TV, try the series Foyles War. There is no end of old cars and it's not a bad story line either.

It makes for interesting reading the reviews etc on Google too.

Omar,

There is of course the James Bond film "The man with the golden gun" that features a field agent not bothering to follow a green RR shadow in Hong Kong because she knew where it was headed. (As Patrick could tell us it's the Peninsula hotel of course)

Unfortunately the rest of the film is cars from the 70's.

Dear Ross,
The family are watching old James Bond films now. I will get their sequence changed to see this one next.
Thanks mate.
