Benoit, I get the same thing. I can't tell you whether this is a temporary hiccup or not because I don't frequent that site enough to know whether it's been down for a few hours versus a few years. I never participated on what appears to have been their discussion forums but if these were ever active they're MIA at the moment, too. The text that shows up at the upper left side of the screen strikes me as what I recall being used on that website. Brian | ||

I can still access the RBEW Forum without any problems however postings are few and far between mainly from UK members. The website has been subject to repeated hacking and the Administrator John Prescott decided to shut it down after the last hack as he was fed up with the time and work required to battle the hackers. At the moment, the number of members accessing the Forum each day can be measured on one hand I extended an invitation to RRBEW members who were not already members of our Forum to join us for the future. Another R-R/B Forum bites the dust thanks to the morons who can only destroy rather than contribute. The Swammelstein Shadow Forum was shut down for the same reason about a decade ago | ||

This just goes to prove that there are more arseholes than bums in this world. The loss of the Swammelstein Forum was tragic. John Prescott did a great service to this site particularly in facilitating access to technical material. This web site thanks to Chris and David seems to survive but disappointingly attracts little traffic from the parent Club members. I have taken to insulting these indifferent people as best I can in my scribblings but it's a horse to water problem. Of late I have wondered whether the eclectic conversations here may daunt some owners who simply want to know how to open a door! Wishful thinking on my part I guess! | ||

Bill, It may be of little comfort, but I can tell you that the situation is no different on the RROC-US forums (which, even though they are a members only deal, I can still read due to several friends who have generously given me their login credentials). There is a core group that participates regularly. Then there are the long-term club members who are very occasional droppers-in. There are occasional new members who show up, most of whom disappear as quickly as they came. I attribute this to several different factors, but even if those were removed I don't think the end result would be hugely different. One of those factors, though, is that to the uninitiated the forums can be very anxiety inducing because "all we talk about are problems." How to make clear that "talking about problems" doesn't mean that we all have them, constantly, but that we all want to try to help those who are having the same or similar ones to those we've already slogged through is something I've never figured out. The best I've come up with is repeatedly mentioning that you can't take a Rolls-Royce and Bentley Technical Forum as an indicator of what you're in for "most days" with your car, or at least most aren't. Neither of my cars are stellar examples of the marque, but with the one that I'm not trying to revive from the dead I've had way more time having fun with it than being frustrated with it. Just driving them frequently, which requires you to do all kinds of routine maintenance that otherwise often gets postponed or ignored, tends to result in the cars becoming better and better with time. Brian/ Thank you for that. It is a field that I continually despair at as does my mate Richard whom I have known for over 50 years. The creation of the Technical Library took both of us months of work and God knows how much time I put into Tee One Topics. Yet neither of these endeavours which provide a facility of great value to the entire planet have ever been reported on in our Federal Magazine or mentioned in our State publications. The above moan is not to say I am insulted that neither Richard nor myself have been lauded for our efforts, it's just an indifference which apparently most members are afflicted with. During our recent Federal Rally, one member and his wife bounced up to me in my capacity as Shadow Registrar and earnestly enquired when was I going to organise another 'weekend away' for our group. I suggested he think about performing that very task! As to daunting material, I really can't see how we can help there. When anyone mentions a yearning for the Lady I always say see me or name someone to see before you do. Yet only last month a car turned up with a wide eyed owner dribbling with enthusiasm, who is now dribbling from a lower outlet having received a bill for the first batch of work! I see the penguins in the pool are starting to move out so it may be warm enough to go out and fiddle with the chariots! | ||

Bill, I am sure I speak for a great many people when I say that the free access to this forum, your Tee-One topics and Crewe'd jottings have been an invaluable source of factual material and technical advice without which, there would be a lot more Rolls-Royce and Bentley products festering away all over the world simply because owners do not possess the knowledge to keep them going.. The amount of technical discussion on this board far outweighs anything that is available on any of the other sites. The geography of your huge country and the fact that RR & B products are relatively thin on the ground, as are dealers, means that you guys have to do it yourselves, to a large extent, and if you did not share information on this site, all owners would be so much the poorer. I think it is in the nature of these sites that, with a few notable exceptions, many visitors take the "smash and grab" approach whereby they dip in and find what they want and then disappear again without any acknowledgement of the help they have received. It is human nature, I suppose, but that attitude always annoys me so I would like to make a point of thanking you, all your colleagues at the RROCA and all contributors for the wonderful support this site provides. As I have posted before, this forum and the technical library are virtually the only resource available to the DIY owner. As a RREC member for about 16 years , the technical resource , tool hire availability and technical comaradery for post war owners is seemingly limited. All other car clubs I have been a member of have been predominantly DIY owners and I joined the RREC hoping that this would be the same ?! In the UK we are fortunate in that generally the marque specialists will point DIY owners in the right direction and the help from FS sales staff and their technical staff is invaluable. This site and the technical library courtesy of Bill and Richard are however the major reference source. As for the gullible purchasers ,as described by Bill, well there appear to be plenty of these in the UK !! Mark | ||

Bill I suspect many owners, like myself, have taken a copy of Tee-One Topics and reference it from their own computers. This means their use is not registered on the main website. If you keep such figures i.e. number of hits, it will not be a true reflection of how many owners are referencing your work. The true number will be much higher than what you are seeing. I too would like to offer my sincere thanks and also make a proposal: I propose that Tee-One Topics be renamed "The Bill Coburn Rolls Royce Archive". The latter part of this name could be changed, however I think the name "Bill Coburn" should appear in the title. Kindest Regards Geoff | ||

I have blessed and thanked Mr. Coburn repeatedly, here and elsewhere, for the treasure trove that is the Tee-One Topics Archive. Since Tee-One Topics is fairly well-known by those who are "in the know" (for lack of a better phrase, I wouldn't expect your random person on the street to have any reason to know about it) I think the Bill Coburn Tee-One Topics Archive for RR/Bentley Motorcars fits quite nicely. You also can't only count "hits" as an indication of how often this information is accessed. I have downloaded virtually the entire rrtechnical.info website so that I have offline access to these materials if/when I need it. Since the material is public and freely downloadable I have also shared it (with attribution as to source - I hasten to add) with others many, many, many times on DVD. There is no way that the worldwide Rolls-Royce and Bentley community could ever adequately express its thanks for rrtechnical.info and all the contents thereof. It is, without doubt, the "go to" online reference for technical material related to these cars. Brian | ||

One web site is in green with yellow writing which makes me cross eyed. So I didnt use it. This trolling and hacking and spamming is antisocial and also illegal ( not sure of the exact law, malicious communication I believe). It's catching them thats going to hard. My local paper comments on news forum often has stupid how to earn mega money at home adverts that annoy. Its every where. One of my sons used to do on the spot Bournemouth weather reports but the site got trolled. The site was for Londoners who are thinking of popping down to Bmth. for the day. I liked Swammelstein, all that technical stuff posted is now gone for good. This site has become the leading authority on Rolls-Royce maybe even more so than Bentley Crewe and definitely more than RR at Goodwood. I doubt there's anybody working at crewe that knows Shadows and before in depth. | ||

Just to add to this - I recently sent a pair of Silver Cloud master cylinders to have re-sleeved at a brake overhaul company, that has done this job previously. Even though I was fully confident in the ability of the company to complete the job correctly, in the box with the cylinders went a copy of the Tee One Topics article on re-sleeving these particular parts.
