Spirit II noticed that recently the gauge is not going any higher than halfway between cold and normal
So thermostat or sender and how best to check both?
Normal stat procedure is to take it out and drop in boiling water, but is there a way to check the sender

Oh and after recovering from the shock of the cost of a stat 100.00 GBP!!!!! why is is that i can get one from the states at 22.00 USD?

Ron, a quick check on the stat is to start the engine, and feel the top hose to see if it starts to warm before the gauge reads normal, if so then Stat is probably US.. If the sender has failed, on the early Spirit, a landrover Series 3 sender worked OK, cost £5. I am not sure if the Spirit2 sender is the same
