Hi all,
My car LRH32854 makes a clunk when I apply the brakes 90% of the time.
It seems to be coming from the rear but everything there looks ok including exhaust mounts.
Could it possibly be compliance bush that goes from the upper control lever to the subframe as it looks as though it's seen better days. (Looks torn)
If so, is it easy to replace.
No spring compression tool need?
Is it pressed in?
Thanks in advance.
Cheers Eric

Hi Eric. There are several sources of info and advice on this topic. I wrote one about the failure of the rubber bush you mention - the symptom is clonking when braking or even worse when it lets go completely. There is also a safety warning about the result when the whole lot breaks from the body. Read about them all and then look for witness marks/rust/loose bits. Sometimes the prop-shaft is "ringed" by a contact mark.

Others with more experience will advise you better, I think, and point you at the articles/posts.

Check the bushings on the torque arm -to-body. They wear and cause issues. The rear final drive frame-to-body has only 2 bushings and they can fail also. You may also have bad shock mount bushings to deal with. The steel mesh bushing on the upper rear subframe to body near the leveling valves is not something that can be done insitu.
