Warning; Rig-Up Ahead. Purists you are warned!

In working on the '77 Wraith, I found the weakener air filter separated from the steel housing, and had to do something. It appears the thing is created by gluing a filter element in the steel housing on one end, and sealing the outer end of the element up so the air has to flow through the filter media. After seeing the price of the generally accepted replacement, I looked though the oil filter elements at the local parts store, found one almost the exact size, for $2 and glued it into the housing with Gorilla Glue. I will glue a round aluminum disc on the other end to seal it. And there! I fixed it!

It is just a Fram oil filter cartridge from WalMart:CH9972.
I will cut a disk from aluminum tomorrow and glue it onto the end of the filter cartridge to seal the hole off. Then all air will be forced to pass through the element.

Well done Randy.
