I have been given a 4 berth caravan. Any information on Shadows and tow bars? Is the Shadow any good as a tow car?

Bob,

Could you please contact me direct and I will give you the contact details for a Club member who is a towbar specialist. My email address is the same one that you have used in the past.

My understanding is that it can be done but substantial under-body modifications are required for proper load transfer from the hitch.

Kind regards
David

Bob, David it is my opinon that the Shadow in good condition ie no rust is more than structurally adequate for the most heavy loads under tow.
I made my hitch with the simple fixings and has towed many a load.
Four wheel trailer and tractor no prob, GTW now thats interesting on limits any one know.
Wheel studs nuts, and the tyres etc. DGW.

I have a 76 shadow that took 4 years to find a suitable tow bar for. In that time spent looking I was shown a car that had towed a large boat, and was shocked to see an inch gap in the rear of the rear door around the dogleg. My advice to antone thinking of towing via a shadow should keep the loads light. I did eventually fit the bar, but my loads are light. Regards to all.
