Just completing a full engine rebuild on my Bentley S1, and have come across Part # 7144, Wooden dowel oil seal rear crank bush, wondering what purpose it serves and if anyone else has used the original soft pine-wood seal.

The wooden dowels act as oil seals on the rear crank bearing housing.
