Martin, with regards to electroplating I have been told that the process of adding the copper coating has been banned by the EPA in the Sydney area, as the process is a heavy pollutant. I think it was the guys at Bankstown that told me that well over 10yrs ago now. I have been taking my chroming work to Hamilton Chrome at Newcastle for number of years and the chrome shine is still looking good. They do add the copper coating and finish is excellent. The only complaint I do have is when having the spin off hubs rechromed, 'Bentley' which is stamped in the hub seems less pronouced and some what filled.
Good luck with your chroming
