How can we get that interior to Dubai?
I have a Shadow 1 screaming for a nice interior.
sorry to hear of your misfortune Henry.
What colour is the interior?

Omar,

Members of the RROC[Australia] regularly ship their vehicles to the UK, Europe, USA for local Club and International Rally events. We have specialist shippers in Australia who put the vehicles into containers after preparing them appropriately [e.g. putting desiccants in the interior of the car to control humidity] and handle the relevant shipping and customs documentation.

I suspect shipping containers from Australia to the UAE would involve a transfer in Singapore but there may be a direct service as well. Hopefully one of our contributors may be able to suggest suitable firms who have shipped their cars with favourable results.

Thanks David,
There is no shortage of shippers and agents. The cost however is astronomical.
It is cheaper for me to reupholster the car locally than to buy a full interior from overseas and ship that to Dubai.
Thanks
Omar

Omar, perhaps you could take it on a Rally there instead and fit it while you're there :-)

Very funny Paul.
It would be cheaper for me to drive all the way to your house from Dubai in a gas guzzler Roller than to ship it Australia mate.
You know what? I like the sound of that mad idea though......
Two years ago my brother did exactly that but he drove a Jaguar all the way to the UK - not an old Roller.

I just did Wales to Skiathos in a 1991 Spur. Good fun trip wit lot's of sight seeing. :-)
I was going to ask you if you thought me collecting a Seraph from Dhahran in Saudi would be a nice and safe trip.. . .
Decided it was probably a silly question.!

more than happy to put you up for a few days if you stop over in Dubai for the start of the drive back from Dhahran. My only advice is to avoid May to September. Way too hot for the old girls. Also if you dont paint the front of your car with fairy liquid and then wait for it to dry, you risk the car being destroyed by natural sandblasting whilst driving through the Saudi desert.
Perhaps a kind modreator will take all this idle chatter away from poor Henry's post. He doesn't need us hijacking his post here.

Moderator Comment: The photos are relevant to the topic and indicate the problems that may arise if the car is driven during the sand blasting season unless a bare metal respray is part of the restoration. Driving a car overland rather than shipping is an option and has occurred in the past including trips from Europe to Australia although our status of an island continent means some shipping is necessary for the final part of the journey.

Omar shippers can be a form of swine. I once had two quotes New York to Brisbane with an eight thousand dollar difference. Locate an exporter from Melbourne to Dubai and get the name of their shipper for the best price. That sandblasting looks quite wild. Good for a DeLoren and nothing else!

Gents,
Did we ever find out what colour the interior from Henry is?
