A well known way of finding a short is to replace the fuse with a light bulb. If the light bulb is bright then there's a short when the bulb goes dim you have found the short. If this concept is extrapolated a bit. Instead of a bulb use a led with a resistor in series. The led and resistor are permanently fitted. When the fuse is intact the led and resistor are shorted out and do nothing if the fuse blows the led will light up. |
