A recent WOF inspection revealed that one of the dampers on my Bentley Turbo R (CH55635) is leaking.
I have been unable to find any info on why the damper is there and what effect it has on ride quality and is it a straightforward task to replace?
Any advice would be appreciated.

It stops the rear subframe moving too much under acceleration and engine braking.

It can clonk when accelerating if they have gone but it will also stress the subframe mounts.

It is not pressurised so quite straightforward to replace.

About £130 for pattern one, £207 for an OE one. (+vat & carriage)

Cheers, Paul.

Many thanks Paul, I'll go ahead and order a replacement .Thanks also for clarifying what it does.I haven't noticed any clonking yet, possibly its not completely 'had it'but I'll get a new one before it gives up.
Cheers, Peter
