Just to add

I can hear a relay ticking from behind the drivers knee roll

Seat is forward so i cannot lift the squab to get to the ECU
Is there a way to move it back manually?

I have swapped the connectors over so the pass seat switches are on the drivers wiring, but nothing happens.
could i switch the ECU's over, or are the handed as the drivers one appears to move the mirrors

So all the MOT reqs if for drivers seat only to move in all directions to get a pass

Hi Ron
Yes you can swap the ECUs.
There is a plug spare on the passenger side for the mirrors ok

Hi.

Swap seat ecus to check.

It is very tricky to get the seat back because the motor connections are kind of central. Have a look at the pass side to locate it and you know what you're looking for.

The motor wires are in pairs and reversing the positive and negative to a pair gives opposite direction of travel.

Well at long last the check has been done, so any sparks out there can shed any light on what and why these various bits are working/not working would appreciate it

As Spirit II owners are aware the seat adjusters are 3 switches in the shape of a seat !
I shall call the rear back squab switch 1
The front seat squab 2
rear seat squab 3
and moving 2/3 together fore and aft 4

Drivers seat
The drivers ECU does nothing apart from activating a relay under the drivers knee roll moving the mirror switches also activates a relay ( can hear the clicking)

Putting the passengr ecu in its place gives the following
switch 1 no movement but operates the relay
switch 2 as switch 1 no movement relay oeprates
switch 3 moves rear part of seat both up and down
switch 4 moves seat fore and aft ( this movement is a requirement of the MOT pass)

Memeory switches onlt postion 3 causes a relay to operate seat doesnt move

Moving the pass ECU back to the passenger seat
Full movement of all 4 switches PLUS all four memory switches operate

So any ideas why this should happen and any suggestions on where to start looking to rectify the problem

I have not put the drivers ECU on the pass sear, but will next weekend

Hi Ron
Sounds like you have some dodgy switches and memory buttons, those memory button switches are pathetic open to all the elements and work on a tiny spring.
Have you had the lid off the ecu's to see what condition the pcb's are in especially around the battery?
Have you tried the 4334 trick?

Before swapping ecus again also try swapping the switch cables under the switches so the drivers switches operate the passengers side and visa versa.

Paul
I was toying with this, but i wont get around to doing it until next weekend at earliest, having a wedding on Thurs and hopefully the replacement roller door for the up and over. When fitted this will give me another 6inches wiggle room to get in
Will update as soon as the next phase of checking has been completed
