Does anyone know if there is a substitute fuel sender for the Cloud or an aftermarket one? My sources want $250.00! I feel sure the sender is very similiar to other British cars of the same era!

You can use a Smiths fuel sender that has terminals for both the gauge and low fuel light, like this one for a Jaguar XK120:

The only caveat is you will have to shorten and bend the arm to match the Cloud one.

Understand the bending, but how would you shorten the rod?

I just cut them off with side cutters and re-bend the end loop to hold the float so the overall length is the same. Or, I guess you could cut the new arm in the middle, shorten it the required amount so the two halves equal the length of the old one and solder the arm halves together.
