Some time ago I obtained a box of engine bits including 6 pistons wrapped in paper. Today, when I unwrapped one this is what I found;

Is this from a B60 industrial? Have they been used them successfully in a car engine?

Hi Carl
I really do not know where my father got these pistons, To my knoledge He never owned a B60 engine,
The pistons were just stored in a box in his workshop.

Thanks Mark, I've never seen any mention of MK VI pistons with a bottom ring. Early Land-Rovers were supposed to have them installed at the first major service but I believe many just had a screwdriver scraped round the edge of the head gasket so it appeared done.
This is marked AE 413 and I have asked for information from Absolute Excellence but no reply as yet.

Yes, thank you Mark, amongst our Gurus is Ashley James. What would we do without the generous expertise of such people, our cars thank them even more than we do.

Hi Mark,
Nothing definite. It was suggested they may be from a B80, but then I scored a new set of standard JPs for not much more than the cost of a head gasket, so they went back in your box.
