It would appear that the rear sub frame mountings need replacing on my Shadow SRH 19305. Can someone let me know what kind of cost I could be looking at? Appreciate the help Kevin |

Omar, It would appear after a second opinion that I can wait and have these done in the New Year. My sense of urgency was due to the fact I have family arriving in Sydney from the UK next week and want to pick them up in the Shadow. (they don't know I own it) But just discovered a brake fuid leak yesterday which I think is due to the O ring on the accumulators, or at least I hope it is! Engineer coming around this evening to take a look. It may cost a little more than the average car to maintain, but it's worth every penny, just don't tell my wife. Besides which I have waited 44 years to have one and I'm not prepared to sacrifice anything now that I have it. All best Kevin |

I note your problem is with the rear subframe but while you are at it the rear cross-member mounting strengthening is absolutely vital on all the Shadow and derivatives series. Do not wait until you have a serious, potentially dangerous and expensive problem to repair. Richard Treacy who contributes to this forum has the maximum information on this metal fatigue problem with Shadows. There is ample evidence of spontaneous failures if you are doubtful and think I am scaremongering. The club should make the fix mandatory. These cars are getting quite old in original 'unrestored' form and unforseen fatigue problems have emerged over the years. I had mine done in Warsaw in Poland a couple of years ago now and sleep well at night. Michael |

Very grateful to Richard who kindly gave me the information yesterday. Immediately upon arriving home I slid under the back and to my relief the left side of the cross member had previously been secured but not the right which I am sure can wait until the New Year when I have the rear sub frame mountings done. Thanks to all and have a happy Christmas and New Year Kevin |
