I recently removed the fan belt tensioner assembly to replace its bearing. Couldn't get the pulley off the shaft, so I took it to a machine shop. They broke the pulley. I have a used replacement coming, but want to be sure this doesn't happen again. It looks as if there are snap rings on either side of the pulley. Do one or both of these rings need to be removed before removing the pulley? Should I heat the pulley with a propane tourch to ease removal? Thanks!
