The radio suddenly stopped working on my 1968 Fixed-Head Coupe. I pulled the radio. I have no power on the positive wire from the dash that powers the radio. There is an in-line fuse on that wire from the dash, but it is not blown;therefore, I am assuming there is another fuse within the dash? I am confused why the in-line fuse is fine, but there is no power to it!!!

I have searched the archives but no joy!

Hi Richard
At the weekend I had problems with my radio in my 1978 Corniche DRH32489, it would go on and off. I recalled that I had a problem with the main fuse system for some other fuse last year - the connections at the back of the fuse were suspect and my local RR expert fixed it.

This time, the RR expert is on holidays, so I fiddled around with the radio fuse (in the main fuse box, not the in line one). If I jiggled it around I could turn the radio on and off. I couldn't work out how to remove the panel with all the fuses on it to get to the back of radio fuse, so I used a punch and hammered it around the rivets holding the fuse clips on the panel. This seemed to secure the rivets better and the radio then worked.
I think that there is normally the fuse in the fuse panel as an extra one in-line. Maybe you might have just blown the fuse in the fuse box, or you might have a connection problem like mine.

John...THANKS, but I don't see a radio fuse in the main fusebox for my 1968! As mentioned, there is a fuse in the power wire for the radio, but there is no power going to this fuse from the dash. I am wondering what supplies power to this wire. I looked at the wiring schematic, but I can't determine the power source. My last resort would be to run a "new" power wire, but would prefer the original power source!

I'd love to know which fuse in the main fuse box is for the radio (and I'm sure one of them has to be in addition to the in-line fuse).

In looking at TSD2476 (November 1976 edition) there is nothing directly noted in the fuse diagram for either the Earlier or Later cars for "radio."

Why this was omitted is a complete mystery.

Thanks, Brian, for posting the link! I tested each fuse in the main fuse box;they were all good! Yes, a mystery! If I find the power source, I will update. For now, I think I will run an additional fused power wire! Take care!

Richard
