1986 Silver Spirit 14,xxx

Well it sprung a leak on the front hyd pump. Static leak when engine is stopped also. Emptied the reservoir in 2 days of sitting.

No pressure problems so only outer sleeve orings needed

Ordered new orings and in making room to get to the pump I removed the secondary air injection valve. Guess what I found?

Not only are the hoses tied to it hard as a rock (not unexpected) but both air manifold check valves were rusted solidly shut.

Now after 40 years they don't want to unscrew (also not unexpected). Penetrating oil for 2 days made no inroads at all. Have never solved a stuck thread with oil yet- never!

Went to the local China tool store and got their cheap Dremel tool knock off and 6, 1 1/2 inch X 1/32" cutoff wheels.

Carefully cut a grove across the tread axis in the large nut just deep enough to get through into the thread area and they both twisted off with a little grunting.

BIG problem solved. Parts on order.

Now I'll read up on what I need to bleed when I refill the sump and line going to the pump.
