I know you are all going to tell me that the original brakes on an S3 Bentley or Silver Cloud are fit for purpose and work well. Whilst they do to a point I am personally not happy they meet modern road conditions unless you adjust them everytime you take the car out. I plan to convert my car to Discs are I believe a few owners have done so and they appear to work well. Does anyone know which discs (part no or donar car) can be used for this application. I also wish to retain the original wheels so hub converters are not a good option.

Hello Hugh From the responses you have had, would appear to be an indication of what the members of the Forum think of the idea, I tend to agree. Regards David |

There is a guy Jack Shelton on FB from the US who does disc brake conversions. He has been doing motors, Gbox and brakes for the wedding industry for years. With the brake conversion the original wheels are retained, as to the brake fluid reservoirs. There is some slight machining of the rear hubs, and welding under the vehicle for the brake booster. You loose the trusty brake servo and the car has brakes immediately when changing forward and reverse and vice versa. He uses GM products and his work appears professional enough. I found here in Australia the Governments's inspectors for compliance are full of their own greatness in their small word to be any good. Look to Hot Rod, Rat Rod, or someone in your area putting huge engines into various cars, there will helpful inspectors/engineers out there to provide compliance. |
