Anyone ever had a problem with the "Engine Running Sensor"?

I'm still fighting an occasional no crank situation that is common to both starter cranking and ignition.

I can jump the starter relay with the key in run and get cranking but no start.

I can see the battery light dim slightly when the key is turned to start but no crank.

I'm also wondering if I might have a dead spot on the starter commutator or bad contacts in the starter solenoid?

This only happens occasionally

Last time I changed the starter relay under the hood and it started but then I wanted to prove the old one bad so it went back in and the engine would not crank so one would think the relay was bad RIGHT?

NO I put the one new one back in and the engine again wouldn't crank!

Waited 3 mins and all of a sudden it cranked and started

Just guessing at this time as no hard failure has happened.
