Dear Brains Trust, having recently come across the sales card for my old girl, I note that there was a horn (amongst other bits and pieces) included in the deal. My reading suggests it was a 'cobra' horn - 4 pounds 10 shillings. Does anyone have knowledge of these? The internet is a little low on clues (presuming my search terms are right). It sounds 'old' but not like the old Klaxon. Any information on what was supplied in the 1930's would be appreciated. |

Theo, The following website might be worth an entry in their "Wanted" category - I did a trial run in the parts category for 1930's vehicles with "horn" as the key word. Didn't find a "Cobra" but did find a number of other interesting car horns: https://www.prewarcar.com/classifieds

So gents, I managed to find an original Boa Horn from a '32 20/25. See below. I'm 100% certain one was supplied with the car. However, for the life of me I cannot work out how where it would have been fitted in the cabin. My problems are these: 1. There is no opening through the floor (or anywhere else) to get the bulb end into the cabin. 2. There are no old mounting holes on the firewall in the appropriate position for any previously fitted horn. 3. Nor is there any indication that a boa horn was ever mounted inside the cabin - I would expect a hole through the dash I presume? Although I don't know if the current timber dash is original. 4. I cant find any photos of the placement of such a horn in the cabin of any 20/25 on the net. There are plenty of photos of the engine bay but nothing showing the correct placement in the cabin. Could it be that it was never fitted? Might I have chased the wrong rabbit down the wrong hole? Any thoughts would be appreciated as always. Many thanks.

Further to my post above, Here is a photo supplied from a different forum showing the correct position in the engine bay. Not sure if this helps the discussion. Anyway, as stated above I'm stumped. Please feel free to put me out of my misery. |

I can maybe? put you out of your misery. My 20hp had the same arrangment with no way the tube would come through the firewall. Perhaps it was fitted for "looks" and serves no other function LOL Dorien |

Hi Theo, I thought a Boa would be old fashioned on a 20/25. Here is the arrangement on a 1926 Park Ward 20Hp. Photo 1 shows bulb upper right of dash.
Photo 2 shows what i think is the tubing running down drivers side kick panel
Photo 3 shows what I think is the tubing exiting body just below and in front of RHS door. External Boa I think is visible through spare wheel spokes
Photo 4 shows Boa not in engine bay position of previous post. The electric horn for when you want to scare the horses is. Never say never, never say always.
