A colleague is having problems with his SZ. The hydraulic system is filling with air in system 2 only after a relatively short distance travelled, and the front brakes are then slow to react properly as expected in that case. Bleeding the system (2) fully produces a foamy liquid and air each time. He has replaced all the main hoses and caliper seals, but not the low-pressure feed hoses to the pumps. There are no fluid leaks whatsoever. My question: if the pump feed hose has collapsed inwards, is it possible for the system to suck in air instead of pumping fluid ? He will change the inlet hoses to both pumps tomorrow in any case. Any other ideas on how or where the system could possibly be sucking in so much air would be welcomed. I can assure you that the reservoirs are full. RT. |

The low pressure fluid flow if restricted by blockage to the pump or pumps from what ever cause will cause the pump or pumps to cavitate drawing in air instead of the full fluid needed. |

And to add where the air could come from, it would be from the hose to pipe conections so check for any signs of perishing etc. In very worn pumps maybe air could be draw in on the return stroke. |

I should have posted this before. The low pressure hoses to the reservoirs had been replaced recently by the dealer. They were hand loose. Although there were no leaks, air was being sucked in. Problem solved in minutes a few weeks ago. RT. |
