Hello Everyone 1981 Spirit static curb height What is rear curb height after 24 hours setting idle? I am helping an RROC member with remote technical assistance. He has measured the height to the bottom of the rear bumper after 72hrs at 14 inches. Can anyone make a comparison measurement on another Spirit? whunter RROC, Lake Michigan, Motor and Ohio region. This measurement is not of much consequence. (in my evening blear I read 72 inches after 14 hours!!!) Remember the Spirits sit on their struts and these at least the height control valves can leak very slowly. Just measured the back of the Spur bumper which is 16 inches from the ground. But in the morning this may have sagged a bit. As long as when you start the thing it recovers itself you are not far wrong. If you would like me to FAX the relevant bit of the manual let me know! Hello Bill Yes; please do fax or e-mail attach the relevant data. I have another gent, called yesterday with the same question. RE: curb height. His Spirit takes 7-9 minutes after setting idle for 24 hours +, before the vehicle levels. Thank you Bill. whunter RROC, Lake Michigan, Motor and Ohio region. My '89 Spur rear bumper is at about 16". It has been sitting for about 5 days. It doesn't change much when started - only about 1/2". Richard Treacy told me (and he'll verify), that one way the correct height can be measured is from the center of the hubcap to the top under section of the body's wheel arch. The measurement should be about 15 3/4". Mine is at that with about a quarter inch difference between left & right wheels (one above & one below that measurement). This, I set with the car's one height valve, as it was riding too high. Larry |

The axle/hubcap centre to mudguard rim is indeed the method and measurement I use, and I am most happy with it as it is very simple and highly accurate. It is only applicable to standard cars, ie not Continentals or Corniches etc. Give the car a good run first, then park it on a level spot and measure it. RT. |
