have you tightened all the bolts - especially the ones hidden above the rear of the sub frame. not the four at the very rear. . . the two slightly in front.

pigs to get to , but often missed.

Also ensure rocker covers, oil level transmitter, con dip stick oring are not leaking.

"where cable is plugged in". Do you mean at the electrical connector or at the threads and then running along the sender until it drips off the end?
If the latter than all you should need is a new sealing washer. However if it's the former the sender will almost certainly be breaking down internally and would be best completely replaced with a new one.

picking up on this thread, I have experienced the very same issue and I thought they gasket was leaking from the oil sump, dripping down onto the OIl sender and on to the floor and also back across the underside of the car. It turned out to be the gasket on the Rocker covers, Oil was pouring out of the seal towards the back of the engine, down the engine casing, onto the starter, and onto the oil sender. These covers were recently nipped or probably now me thinks -overnipped. New gaskets fixed it.

Seconded on Kevin's experience. It's amazing just how much oil can come out from the valve cover gaskets while the car is in operation.

I had new gaskets installed but they only solved the problem on the right side. Of course, given my experience with the shop that installed them this is no surprise. I'd like to tighten the covers down a bit more, but don't trust that this shop necessarily put in the spacers that come with the new neoprene (I think they're neoprene) gaskets. The last thing I want is to fracture the cover by overtightening. I have been told if the spacers are in place this degree of overtightening is not possible.
