Fast idle screw; when the choke is on it touches a cam and increases the engine speed while it warms up Throttle stop; normal idling adjustment, where the accelerator linkage bottoms out to give an idle speed. Viscous coupling. heat operated clutch. should freewheel when cold and lock up progressively as it gets hotter. Saves fuel by freewheeling when the car is in motion and air is being pushed through the radiator by the cars speed. Locks up when stuck in traffic. If failing 'off' - car will be OK on a run but overheat in a traffic jam. If failing 'on' it will be very noisy and the engine will sound like it's constantly struggling and underpowered. |

The throttle damper mounting broke off The Old Girl (SRH24518) over a year ago and I've never noticed any trouble from the lack of it yet. I can only assume that it's just another unnecessary Crewe device to eliminate a problem that doesn't actually exist! |
