I have always wanted a bit more wiper coverage than the original 14-inch blade provides and it was obvious that one could get something that was 1/2 an inch longer on each end and still fit within the top and bottom of the windshield if the connection point on the wiper arm positioned the blade correctly.

I also wanted something that used a metal blade frame and that would allow for the use of blade replacements if I can find them. I've hated the trend toward only full frame with blade replacement since it seems to be entirely wasteful to me to keep getting new frames when they're not needed.

I've found something that meets all of my criteria. In the United States this brand is carried at AutoZone and probably a number of other auto parts stores as well. Given the global nature of business, they're probably sold over a large part of the earth's surface.

This presumes that you don't require a chrome blade frame, because these are painted a nearly matte black. These are being fitted to SRH33576, which has the matte black wiper arms (or at least the remainder of the matte black that hasn't chipped off of the underlying chrome over the course of 36 years).

In the UK we have refills that fit the original shiny frames £3.50 a pair.

The arms are available in chrome and stainless from classic auto parts such as Moss or David Manners.

The arms and blade frames don't seem to wear. The arm spring is available from black arms at a scrap yard.

The trade is very aware of the chrome wiper demand.
